Phytoremediaiton is a low-cost in-situ remediation technology that employs plant influenced microbial,chemcial,and physical processes to remediate contaminated soils and groundwater.Vegetation uses natural resources and is aesthetically pleasing.the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) conducte da study to test the feasibility of phytoremediation to remediate soils contaminated with polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).Soil collected from a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) site in Newark,NJ was examined.Three species of plants: Alfalfa,Switch Grass,Little bluestem grass,were evalauted.The phytoremediation test was conducted for 180 days.Results of the study showed that following phytoremediation with both Alfalfa and Switch Grass,57
