Unique test process resolves junction difficulties in a multilateral completion on the north sea statfjord field

The Statfjord Field is the largest producing oilfield in the North Sea. To date, 59 wells have been drilled, 35 of which have been sidetracks. To increase the recoverable resves for the remaining slots, it was fielt that multilateral completions would provide the best option since the targed reservoirs were small, and thus, would have to be combined to provide economic feasibility. The ultilateral concept is comparatively new, and as with all poineering technology, each field experience can present scenarios that have not previously beend addressed.
