Solubilities of methane-ethane and methane-propane mixed gases in Fengcheng bitumen and the effect of dissolved gases on viscosity and density of the bitumen have been studied in the temperature range from 60-5deg C and at pressures up to 10MPa. The solubilities decrease with temperature and increase with pressure. The solubilities decrease with temperature and increase with pressure. The solubilities of pure gases in the bitumen follow the order: propane > ethane > methane, and the solubility of a binary gas mixture lies between those of the two pure gases. The viscosity of the bitumen can be reduced significantly by the pure gases and the gas mixtures.
