The Pilot Test on Steam Flooding for the Heavy Oil Reservoir of the Qi-40 Fault Block

Considering the situation of the Qi-40 fault block that the formation pressure was getting lower and lower and the effect of the steam stimulation was getting worse, comprehensive appreciation was conducted for the block. After physical and numerical simulation, we concluded that, compared with any other developing methods, steam flooding might be the best way for the development of the Qi-40 block. A pilot test of steam flooding was held on the Lian2 layer group in the middle of the Qi-40 block in May, 1996, based on the 15-29 and 13-291 well groups. The area of the pilot site was 0.15km~2 with geological reserves of 75X10~4t. Assisted by some compensatory means, the effect seemed to be satisfied. Generally speaking, the 40 block is suitable for steam flooding development and the whole scale steam flooding is industrially applicable.
