Electrocatalytic properties for hydrogen evolution along hypohyper-d-electronic phase diagrams of transition elements follow the same characteristic volcano plots with a priori defined maximum, which in average electronic density corresoponds to individual metals along the Periodic Table. Such a state of theoretical and experimental evidence enables to produce synergetically active electrocatalysts for hydrogen electrode reactions. The emphases has particularly been imposed on some specific intermetallics, such as MoNi_3, which exhibits the same activity as platinized Pt, Tiney-Ni, which corresponds, but in many respects exceeds its counterpart, Raney-Ni, and WPt_3 (and/or HfPd_3, ZrIr_3), which exceed even Pt in its stability and activity.
