Protein secretion and oxidase activities in idiophasic cultures of trametes versicolor

Trametes versicolor, a potent lignocellulose deocmposer, degrades lignin most effectively in cultures showing idiophasic methabolism. In our studies the activities of laccase and peroxidases which are crucial for ligninolysis, together with protein secretion, were measured during early, edium and late idiophase provoked by carbon or nitrogen starvation. The protin secretion was found to be correlated to changes in laccasic and peroxidasic activities and non-correlated to the activity of glucose oxidase, an enzyme auxiliary to peroxidases. When the media epleted of glucose were supplemented with ferultic acid, xidasic activities were increased by the magnitude of order. However, the secreted proeins in cultures with ferulic acid in the medium were distinctly degraded prteolytically, which was poved by the polyacry lamide gel electrophoresis.
