The liquid feed direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), actively being developed by Giner, Inc. in conjunction with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the University of Southern California (USC) has the potential to replace batteries in a number of military applications. Toward this goal, Giner, Inc. is designing and fabricating compact, lightweight fuel cell stack hardware to be used in battery replacement and other applications. This paper describes recent developments in this area.
