Remarkable damage to disk-type gas turbine compressor rotors

The complex damage described in this article clearly points to the importance of paying maximum attention to transient temperature variations when designing gas turbine components. As the operator of the three identically designed gas turbines, MS 9001 B type, we observed the first remarkable damage to the compressor rotors, since we are operating the first turbine nos. 2,3, and 4, of this type ever built.
