Experimental investigation with a three stage low pressure (LP) steam model turbine were carried out at very low or even zero flow rate. Apart from the determination of the thermal load the objective was the measurement of the dynamic load of the running blades in the last stage at very low flow rate. The pressure distribution and the temperature distribution of every individual stage were measured with static pressure taps and respectively with thermocouples applicated in the flow path. In the area of the last stage pneumatic multi hole probes were inserted into the turbine to determine the local flow field. Additionally strain gauges were used to determine the dynamic load of the running blades in the last stage.
