Application of used magnesite-chrome bricks in cement kiln to converter patching material was studied.The reduction of Cr6+ to harmless Cr3+,and the effects of the composition based on used magnesite-chrome bricks and silicon powder on the structure and properties of the products were discussed.The samples were undergone heat treatment at 110 °C for 24 h,1100 °C for 3 h,and 1500°Cfor 3h,respectively.Bending strength,compressive strength,apparent porosity,bulk density,and linear change of the samples were determined.The results showed that the sample added with 20% of used magnesite-chrome bricks had higher strength,volume density and lower porosity.With increasing addition of silica powder the every performance index enhanced.The comprehensive performance reached the best when 3% of silica powder was added.Using of the used magnesite-chrome bricks from burning zone of cement kiln as converter gum mixture is feasible.
