Off-line dynamci modelling techniques are used to develop and evaluate alternative control strategies for an advanced WTW membrane plant which supplies 7 MGD to consumers within the North West of England.To ensure plant compliance under all perceived operational scenarios,a detailed dynamci model has been devleoped within an off-line simulation environmetn.The highly dynamic nature of the processes involved renders traditional steady-state analysis inappropriate.The prime aim of the model is to optimise the entire system such that plant throughput is maximised,whilst ensuring ocmpliance and maintainign plant safety.the model,which inlcudes the existing units,the new memebrane process and all associated periphery,has been used as a platform on which to assess and optimise the proposed ocntrol system.A graphicla User Interface (GUI) has also been developed to assist with operator training.
