Up to now, each robot controller has ist won language. Based on standard programming languages, robot languages have specialised functionallity and are complex to program. To facilitate robot programming, there are some systems that provide easy user interfaces for special applications, e. g. welding. In that line, we designed a system, that automatically generates robot programs for engraving and writing of all characters and texts. The user enters the text into a PC, and a computer program generates the robot program with all necessary informations like the transformations of coordinate systems to engrave or write the characters in the right positions. This robot program is transfered to the robot controller and automatically executed. Additionally, our example integrates an industrial vision system to recognize position and orientation of the workpiece. With this system, it is not necessary that the programmer of the text knows anything about the robot programming language.
