The deformation behavior of the pile subjected to neighbouring excavation and the lateral resistance of the pile after the excavation were investigated using centrifuge model tests. The deformation of the pile during excavation was sufficientlysmall, and was recognized not to become a serious engineering problem. The coefficient of subgrade reaction of the pile subjected to a certain neighbouring excavation, however, reduced up to 20 % of that of the pile installed in a level ground. Thelateral resistance performance of the pile located at more than 6 times pile width from the edge of excavation almost coincided with that of the pile constructed in a horizontal ground.
