Recently a detailed experiemtnal study examining hte seismic performance of a seawall model has been completed using hte large servo-hydraulic shaker on the large centrifuge at UC Davis. a total of eleven searwall models, representing a caisson type seawall with an armored embankment, were tested. These models typically had a liquefiable sand stratum beneath the seawall structure. This paper describes the experimental facilities and techniques used for the testing program, and presents results pertaining to the influence of the seabed properties on the seismic performance of the seawall.
