Because of increased, competing demands for eservoir benefits, decision makers are finding it increasingly more difficult to operate multipurpose reservoirs. Multipurpose reservoir operations call for strategic decisions that balance potentially competing goals and oeprational risks throughout the year. A risk-based, multiobjective decision framework that helps evaluate strategic tradeoffs for reservoir operations over both the long-and short-term operational horizon is the focus of this paper.
