Conjecture upon the analysis of computer performance by means of evolutionary computing

摘要

THis paper considers the problem of analysing computer performance data in order to ensure the deliver of a given level of s evice, often referred to as "Capacity & Performance Analysis". The paper provides a brief review of techniques that have been used to date and considers how some of the mechanisms employed in evolutionary computing could be brounght to bear on this problem domain. The problem of modelling IBM's MVS Workload Manager Goal Mode is considered because of the difficulties it poses traditional methods. A cojjecture is then offereed on how it migth be solved with the aid of evolutionary computing.
