A modern screw compressor ocntains several highly loaded metal-to-metal contacts lubricated with oil,including,rollign element bearings,gears,and the rotors.these types of contacts are normally referred as EHD or EHL contacts (Elasto-Hydro-Dynmaic-Lubrication),due to the elastic deformation of the surfaces.The expedcted life of such bearings is to a large related to the lubricant film thickness in te bearings.The properties o fthe ubricant that determine the film thickness in an EHD-contact are normally the dyanci viscosity,and the pressure-viscosity coefficient,#alpha#.In a refrigeratin system,boht those parameters are affeted by the preseence of refrigerant.
