In order to devleop a new beach preservatin technique which has two functions of protecitn gthe beach in a storm and enabling utilizaiton of beach druign calm sea,we cosider the system of controlign a groundwater level by buryign a permeable layer unde rthe foreshore.Since most of the ocmponents are buried underground, people on the beafch do not notice the presence of the syste, enabling preservation fo the beach in its most natural state. The greatest challenge of the system is,however, whether installation of the perfmeable layer alone will fully prevent erosion.Authors therefore conducte an eperiment to evaluate beach stabilitzation effect of the present system. The results indicates that the perfmeable layer buried in the sand cna prevent rise inthe groundawater level and the wave set-up.The critical wave height for the foreshore erosion is 1.66 times higher than that on the beach without the permeable layer.
