Experimental and numerical investigations on the loading and failure behaviour of single edge cracked (SE(B)) specimens and center cracked wide plates (CC(T)) extracted from high strength steel (S 690 Q) weldments, which were fabricated to have different degrees of weld metal yield strength mismatch, were performed. The original plate thickness was 19 mm. In all cases the cracks were positioned in the HAZ just at the fusion line.
