In-Service Inspection Programs for Marine Structures

Experience with in-service inspections of marine structures has adequately demonstrated that there are two distinct categories of defects and damage: 1) those due to intrinsic causes (could have been or were anticipated, natural, predictable), and 2) those due to extrinsic causes (could not have been anticipated, human caused, unpredictable).
