Desalination of Seawater for the Production of Industrial Process Water

As the world's population continues to increase, and existing water supplies diminish, industry must look for alternate water sources. The one remaining "inexhaustible" source of water is the seas, which contain over 97% of the world's water.This paper provides information and guidelines to aid in selecting the appropriate process for a seawater desalination plant for industrial purposes. The major seawater desalination processes used by industry are reviewed.
