The new pelletron accelerator laboratory at the university of mexico

A new Pelletron accelerator labroatory was established at the Institute of Physics at the University of Mexico, based on 3 MV NEC Pelletron acceleratory, model 9SDH-2, which is in operation since April 1995. Two beamlines have been installed, one for ion beam analysis and the other for ion implantation. A third beamline is under construction and will be used for research on nuclear reactions of astrophysical interest. A description of the ongoing experiments is given, concerning the characterization and modification of materials.
