The last decade has seen a dramatic change in relation to the organisational structure of interconnected electrical power systems. From a traditionally single-owned and operated power system, that is a vertically integrated platform, to a completely decoupled structure. This newly defined structure is formed by three sectors:generation, transmission and distribution, whose roles are now represented by separate business, owned by multiple, and sometimes competitve entities within each sector.
