We often hear, "These investments in industrial wastewater treatment facilities in developing countries were wasted. A very substantial number of the systems are either not operating at all or have an exceptionally low treatment performance efficiency. They are not justified economically and they are not productive environmentally". In reality this is more or less the situation in many industrial water pollution control facilities in Iran. In this paper case studies on individual industrial water pollution control plants located in and around Shiraz is described. Shiraz is a major urban center (population 1.5 million) in Southern Iran. Many factors contribute to this situation, inappropriate technology, unreliable service & lack of considerations given to fundamental engineering mobilization for the development of appropriate technology & reliable services is a very important and vital factor in solving industral water pollution control problems.
