A new useful combination of familiar techniques of signal processing, called a wavelet auto-correlation analysis, is used to analyze the coherent structure of two-dimensional vortex flow with help of the Gabor wavelet function. The wavelet auto-correlation analysis can express the statistical auto-correlation analysis can express the statistical auto-correlation of any signal in terms of scale and time delay. It is found that the branching structures in WR(a, tau) reveal that a periodic large eddy motion contains the periodic small eddy motions. In the shear layer at x/d=10, the periodic eddy motions with a=15, 40, 75, 100 and 150ms are clearly observed.
