A Novel Structure of Multioutput Hybrid Logic Networks Based on Self-Checking Logic and Fail-Safe Logic for Fault Diagnosis

In this paper, a novel structure of multioutput hybrid logic (HL) network based on self-checking logic (SCL) and fail-safe logic (FSAL) for fault detection and location is presented. A HL network is composed of a functional module, which is construct ed by two replicas of a multioutput functional subnetwork, and a fault diagnosis module. The functional subnetwork realizes a set of self-dual functions. For a FSAL functional subnetwork, each realized self-dual function must be a monotonic or mixed monotonic function. Under the single stuck-at-fault assumption, the fault diagnosis module can detect all faults in the functional module and itself except the clock circuit,a nd locate partial faults in these two modules. Some concepts of fault location for logic networks are defined formally, such as faultlocatable (FL), totally fault-locatable (TFL), and partially faultlocatable (PFL). They are used to describe the fault detect ing/locating capability of the HL networks. It can be shown that the meaning of totally self-checking (TSC) is covered by the meaning of TFL. Finally, a scheme of PFL fault diagnosis circuit for HL networks is proposed.
