This paper presents the improvement obtained from using a Discrete Multitone approach for transmitting information over a time-invariant wireless channel. A scalar channel model similar to the well known Jakes model [1]is assumed. Additive White Gaussian Noise is also assumed. Flat energy is put across the entire band and the multitone signal-to-noise ratio and bit rate are computed. These values are compared with those obtained from using a Discrete Multitone approach and assigning bits only to the "good" portions of the band. Improvements in signalto-noise ratio and in data rates are obtained using this method. Analytic expressions for the SNR and data rate improvements are also derived.
