The scenario workshops have enabled a multitude of questions to be set and answered that revolve around the many issues that constitute the operating railway.As a tool it is highly effective and extremely interactive. It can be quite expensive to set up but more than pays for itself with the information it provides.It is essential that a team is formed who can focus on developing the various scripts and questionnaires and can analyse the findings.Buy in for the concept from all who are asked to support the scenarios is vital. There is nothing worse than expecting a key role player or observer to turn up and they do not because something more important came up back at the office.When once becomes embroiled in a large project such as the Jubilee Line Extension it is quite easy to become lost in the morass of so many different things to do at the same time. The operational scenario workshops are able to give a tangential focus to many of the issues, which normally have a tendency to be dealt by the production and reading of lots of pieces of paper. The scenarios give a higher quality of response to problems set.All in all we have found the workshops to be a most useful tool and one of the main reasons we are confident that we will have the right people with the right skills receiving the right training in place for when we are called upon to operate the Extended Jubilee Line.Finally the operating structure we have proposed to staff the control room upon opening is a flat two tier structure consisting of strategists and doers. Quite a change from how we do things today.
