Video traffic modeling and multiplexing performance analysis in an ATM network using simulation

摘要

This paper presents a methodology for modeling compressed video traffic as an esstntial tool to be used in the performance analysis of ATM networks. The ATM Fourm has specified some QoS requirements for this tpe of traffic that will have to be considered when designing networks or developing specific control access mechanisms for video traffic services. For this reason it is important the development of rather sophisticated traffic models to carry out accurate design and performance evaluation studies of networks s upporting video services.
