DSS for freigh and stowage management

摘要

Paper reports on the Decision Support System (DSS) for freight and stowage management during loading RO-RO ships. The DSS features visual support for stowage planning at various stages of the loading operations, ability to process data characterised by varying degrees of uncertainty and to handle changes and unexpected events. It can also indicate and visualise possible violations of safety and feasibility criteria at each stage and each step of loading procedures and is able to generate the required reports and other documents. The system supports decision making with respect to accepting or rejecting cargoes offered for transportation, stowing different cargoes on board, as well as using ballast and other tank spaces to assure ship safety.
