摘要

A nonlinear foam model for vertebral trabecular bone has been used in finite element simulations of compression tests on cylindrical specimens of bone with varying architectures. The results show how significantly the architecture can effect theoverall properties, while the material properties remain unchanged. Nonlinearity has been introduced by treating the material as elastic-perfectly plastic, with realistic results that will be compared with experiments in future work.
