摘要

In general, the impacto dynomic loads on the lower extremity and the resulting effect on bone and soft tissues is not well understood. While bone mineral content (BMC) is clearly influenced by the weight of the person, the distributions of loads during daily activities may also influence the bone. It has previously been reported that dynamic loads (knee adduction moment) during gait influence the outcome of high tibial osteotomy. Moreover it has been shown that the subchondral bone distribution is altered following high tibial osteotomy in a manner consistent with the change in varus/valgus angulation. However, the direct relationship between the adduction moment or the medial and lateral joint loads on the tibial bone distribution has yet to be demonstrated. This study tested the hypothesis that in addition to body weight, the knee adduction moment and the average peak predicted medial force during gait were significantly correlated with the distribution of medial and lateral tibial BMC.
