With the growth of traffic demand and the mature of technology. it is possible to utilize 10 Gb/s system on backbone network in the near future, especially for countries like China with continuous traffic growth of 40 percent- 50 percent per year. On the other hand, nearly all the fiber China have installed is Normal fiber (G.652 fiber) which suffers big dispersion problem. To extend the dispersion limited distance we believe that the dispersion compensation employing the DCF technology is a easy and realistic approach and some experiments have been carried out and initial results show that DCF technology is effective technology for long -distance 10Gb/s TDM system transmission. The paper also identifies some interesting dispersion. The paper also identifies some interesting dispersion compensation phenomena which may help the optimal system design.
