A batch kinetic model giving a mathematical description for the production of poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) by recombinant Escherichia coli was presented.The proposed model appeared to provide an excellent description and prediction for the overall fermentation process under different initial culture conditions. The average relative deviation between simulated or predicted values and experimental data was less than 5%.
