The requirements are fulfilled quite differently in the three selected tool categories: proper noise declarations were available for 50% of electrical tools, 85% of pneumatic tools, and 94% of chain saws. The poor situation of electrical tools is concerning, as it is the biggest category in the market. There are, though, indications of improvement in the future. Another finding was that the misuse of the CE-sign is relatively common, and the sign does not indicate the fulfillment of safety requirements as it is supposed to do. A common problem was also the use of false physical quantities in the declarations. This was mostly due to erroneous translations from English to Finnish.
