LIQUEFACTION BEHAVIOUR OF PAKISTANI COAL EFFECT OF PROCESS VARIABLES, DEMINERALIZATION AND CATALYSTS

A Pakistani coal sample obtained from Degari coal mines was subjected to liquefaction studies under varying experimental conditions. A noticeable effect of various coal pretreatment procedures and liquefaction process variables were observed. High yield of liquefied products were obtained at high temperature, high hydrogen pressure, medium contact time and small sized coal particles. Catalyst impregnation caused an over all increase in total conversion, volatiles and oils. Demineralization of coal has caused decrease in total conversion as well as in the yield of volatiles and oils.
