A commercial honeycomb structure designed for selective adsorption of trace amounts of chlorinated organic compounds with high molecular weights has been tested using 1,2-dichlorobenzene (o-DCB). The adsorption capacity of o-DCB was measured at 25°C and 120°C in dynamic regime and then running temperature programmed desorption experiments using simultaneous thermogravimetric and mass spectrometry techniques (TG/MS) for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the desorbed compounds. The experimental results showed that this honeycomb structure has both high and selective adsorption capacity for these types of compounds while maintaining excellent mechanical properties.
