Using low temperature ashing (LTA) technique, the mineral matter of eleven Turkish lignites was isolated and studied. The mineralogical composition of the LTA samples is investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIK) spectra methods supported by ash analysis. The mineral matter amounts of lignite samples are calculated from the Parr formula. The types and amounts of the inorganic constituents in the ashes of these lignite samples were studied and results were compared.
