Internet Presence and the Firm's Strategic Orientation: Is There A Relation?

This apper reports the results of an exploratory study on the relation between the degree to which a firm has Internet presence and its business level strategy. 149 small manufacturing firms participated in the study. Results support hypotheses regarding a positive relation between Internet presence (IP) and differentiation, strategic intensity, and aggressiveness of the firm. No support was found for hypotheses regarding a relation between IP and cost-leadership and innovativeness.
