CATHARE is a "best-estimate", two-fluid computer code developed jointly by CEA, EDF and FRAMATOME for the studies of incidental or accidental transients on PWRs. Since the beginning of the project, development and assessment activities have followed a rigorous strategy supported by an experimental programme including analytical experimetns and the BETHSY system loop. the new version, CATHARE2 V1.3 has been validated through around 300 selected Separate Effect Tests (SET) and with a selection of 27 Integral Effect Tests (IET) coming from BEHTSY, LOBI, LOFT, LSTF, PACTEL, PMK, and SPES facilities. CATHARE has proven to be representative against a wide range of PWR transients.
