摘要

A electromagnetic brake (EMBr) of local field type has been developed at an existing super low head slab castr. Numerical simulation based on two dimensional magnetohydrodymamic (MHD) flow of liquid steel including turbulent flow effect shows that the applied magnetic field is close to submerged enter nozzle (SEN) and the field intensity is moderate, the optimum results of EMBr in the mold can be obtained. On the basis of this a separated EMBr and a layered mold water jacket have been developed. The concept of design structure is convenient to apply EMBr technique in the existing slab caster. Measurements and industrial test have shown that properties of EMBr and its operating results are good.
