This paper describes the results of lightning overvoltage analysis and determination of BIL(Basic Lightning Impulse Insulation Level) of KEPCO 765kV gas insulated equipment by EMTPfElectro-Magnetic Transient Program). To get the reliable results, four section tower model is used and the voltage-time characteristics of the arcing horn gap is simulated by T ACS (Transient Analysis Control System) in EMTP. By the analysis results we determined the BIL of 2250 kV for the gas insulated buses and circuit breakers and 2050 kV for the transformer.
