摘要

The District on North Vancouver is an urban area of approximately 160 km~2 (62 mi~2) on the lower slopes of British Columbia's Coastal Mountains to the north of the lower Fraser River valley. Unlike the heavily urbanized Fraser valley lowlands, the North Vancouver landscape is steep and is characterized by frequent extreme precipitation. Mountain creeks which wind their way through the urban landscape are fed by rainfall and snowmelt and eventually discharge into Burrard Inlet. Many of these watercourses contain productive salmon habitat and the hydrology of these mountain creeks is dominated by large peak discharge events during the rainy winter months. The steep mountain terrain can produce high flow velocities on hcannel slopes that can range from 15 to 45
