This is an overview of the ISO14000 suite of standards being developed for environmental management,auditing, labeling, performance evaluation, and life cycle assessement. The management standard will be compared to ISO9000 and it will be cshown that existing environmental programs already in place at most companies can be upgraded to fit ISO14000. DuPont's corporate approach to implementation will be reviewed. Finally, teh pros and cons of an environmental management system will be discussed including links to government programs that offer lower fines and lower likelihood of prosecution.
