Analysis of the t-shaped stiffened bracket plates

When the connection reactions of the beam become heavier than expected for unstiffened seats, a T-shaped stiffened seat may be used in welded construction. A finite element analysis for the stiffened bracket plates is performed to determine the strength and the elastic buckling behavior for four types of bracket plates in this study. The maximum width thickness ratios of these four types of bracket plates to give yielding before buckling are calculated and suggested in this paper.
