Phytoremediation of 2,4-dinitrotoluene contaminated soils using parrot feather (myriophilum brasiliense)

There are almost 12,000 sites in the United States which are contaminated with by-products of munitions manufacturing. A number of these sites are contaminated with trinitrotoluene (TNT), 2,4-dinitrotoluene (2,4-DNT), and their degradation products. Since many of these compounds are environmentally toxic and pose significant health risks, remediation is essential.
