Project probe-dducating a new generation of power engineers

This paper describes the benefits of a testing program, Project Probe, run at a large, coal-fired power plant during the summer of 1995. Project participants included 15 engineering students, two engineering professors, and the plant's engineering staff. The plant, owned and operated by American Electric Power (AEP), consists of two 1300 MW supercritical units. It was recently retrofitted with a flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system.
