U.S. Navy Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the Composites Institute

The U.S. Navy's Naval Faciliteis Engineering Service Center and the Composites Institute of the Society of the Plastics Industry have entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). The CRADA is a process that allows federal research and development centers to cooperate with non-federal parties do develop products and technologies that are of benefit to bot the government and the private sector The objective of this agreement is to establish performance requirements and to develop the hardware that satisfy those performance requirements for composite structural components that will be used in typical marine waterfront environments such as piers, wharvaes and docks. This paper will briefly discuss the CRADA process and describe specific efforts related to the current agreement.
