A model of the RTM/RFI flow process is under development for use in tool design and process cycle optimization of compplex shaped textile preforms. The model, based on the finite element/control volume techique, was developed to predict infiltration of resin into an aniso-tropic fiber preform. Experiments were performed to verify the accuracy of the flow model and the preform permeability measuremdents. A single bade-stiffened preform was infiltrated in an instrumented mold. The mold inlet pressure and the flow front positions were measured during infiltration by miniature flush mount pressure transducers mounted in the fixture.
