In this study, the role of two candidate cell signaling pathways, one related to intracellular calcium ([Ca{sup}(2+)]{sub}i) and the second involving mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs), in chondrocyte mechanotransduction was investigated.It is our aim to begin to relate these cell signaling pathways to the regulation of aggrecan gene expression in chondrocytes.
